Broadsword 2 – Upcoming Gaming Convention – Saturday, August 20

This coming Saturday (August 20) the Hamilton Tabletop Gaming Society is hosting their second Broadsword Games Day. I was not able to attend the first, but it went well enough that they decided to run the event again. It starts at 9am and is housed at the Veterans Hall (1353 Barton Street East, Hamilton, Ontario). They are asking for $10 at the door and gamers under 18 get in for free.

There are plenty of things to be excited about at this event, but I am going to focus on the things that particularly capture my interest. For more information on what is being ran at the event, be sure to check the Broadsword Two Facebook Page. First off, a number of people are running Board games in addition to Miniatures games. I am a fan of both, so I like that this event is not concentric on just one type of game. Kemet is a board game planned that I have played before and really enjoyed. Blood Rage is another board game there that captures my interest.
For Miniatures games, there is plenty running that looks exciting. There is a game of Flint and Feather running. I played this at a Council Fires games day (I believe in Cambridge) a year or two ago and had a great time. How the West Was Eaten is another game that intrigues me just by the title alone. There will also be games of Heroscape, Bolt Action and Chain of Command running. For those into Star Wars Armada, it appears that there will be a tournament at this event. I personally, will be running a game of A Fistful of Kung Fu with a Cthulhu theme. Another Cthulhu game also caught my attention on the list. It is Strange Aeons.

The games are just part of the magic at these events. Vendors also help make gaming conventions special. At this time, Six Squared Studios, Full Battle Rattle Miniatures, RAFM Miniatures and Tanks and Trees all plan to attend the event.I am really looking forward to seeing a lot of people at this event, and if you recognize me, feel free to come over and say “hi.”
